Hi everyone. We are members of the community where Father Miguel serves, and we created this fundraiser because he needs help getting prosthetics and continuing his rehabilitation.
Father Miguel has been a priest for 16 years. Throughout that time, he has celebrated Mass, baptized children, visited the sick, supported families, and been present during moments that many people in our community will never forget.
Eight months ago, after a serious complication affected both of his legs, doctors tried to save them, but it was not possible. He came out of surgery having lost both legs.
Since then, a lot has changed. He still celebrates Mass, performs baptisms, and meets with people who come to him for support. The difference is that today he does all of this from a wheelchair.
Those who attended the church before remember him walking from one side to the other, climbing the steps to the altar, giving Communion, and spending hours on his feet. Today, he needs help from others to reach those same places.
Even so, he has never stopped serving.
Now another part of this journey has begun. Father Miguel needs suitable prosthetics and ongoing rehabilitation so he can work toward walking again. We have been told that this early stage of adaptation is important, and we do not want to lose valuable time.
The problem is that the cost of the prosthetics and the entire rehabilitation process is far beyond what he, his family, and our community can afford alone.
That is why we decided to ask for help.
For so many years, Father Miguel has stood beside people in our community. Now we want to stand beside him.
Our wish is simple: to see him enter the church and reach the altar on his own legs again.
